About Iris

I photograph people, not performances.

I'm Iris Chen — Portland-based photographer with a background in fine art and a deep belief that the photographs you hang on your wall should feel like you walked back into the room.

I work quietly. I move around the edges. I wait for the glance between two people that only lasts a second. That second is what I'm after.

Based in Portland — available throughout the Pacific Northwest and willing to travel anywhere the light is good.

What Clients Say

Words from the Gallery

"We've looked at these photos every single day for two years. They are exactly us — not a version of us that was performing for a camera."

Margot & Daniel

Wedding, Willamette Valley

"I've had headshots done four times in my career and hated every single one. These are the first I've ever wanted to actually use."

James Holloway

Executive headshots, Portland

"Getting three kids and two dogs to cooperate is impossible. Iris somehow made it feel effortless and the photos are everything."
